How Effective is an Acne Treatment Cream?

With people who don’t suffer too much with acne, when they notice they are getting one or two pimples they usually go and visit their local pharmacy and buy an acne cream to put on the pimples. How effective an acne treatment cream is depends on the severity of the acne and the individual case.

For more severe acne then an oral treatment might be prescribed by the doctor such as Tetracycline. This is a stronger treatment which works by reducing the bacteria on the body. But these will only be prescribed by a doctor once he examines the person fully.

The main ingredient of acne creams that help to prevent acne is Benzoyl Peroxide. It is also very common in skin lotions, gels and cleaners. Acne creams are very easy to use, just wash your face thoroughly and dry it with a soft towel. Then apply the cream directly onto the pimples and massage the cream into the skin. You will probably have to do this twice a day depending on the individual cream you are using.

The creams work by pushing oxygen into the pores of the skin. This oxygen will kill off the bacteria that is causing the acne to occur. When used regularly it also helps to prevent acne from appearing at all as it helps the skin to remain rejuvenated.

When using the creams for the first time, you may have a slight warming sensation on the area you have treated. This is a common side effect which shouldn’t last very long. If it does then go and consult with your doctor, who may recommend another cream or maybe tell you to use it once every other day instead until your skin gets used to the cream.
