Many people suffer with acne on a permanent basis, where as others just get the occasional outbreak every now and then. Which ever of those groups you belong to, you know that often acne can be quite a problem. There are many ways to try and treat acne but often it just won’t go away. Many spots will remain small and red but others will turn dark and develop black heads. These are commonly known as blackheads but they can be removed by using a blackhead extractor.
What exactly is a Blackhead Extractor?
A blackhead extractor does what the name suggests; it extracts blackheads from the skin. It will pull out the blackhead completely from the skins surface. There are several different types of extractors that can be used depending on the severity of your acne. The easiest method is the tissue extractor. You simply wrap a small tissue around your blackhead and try to pull it out. Try to do it without breaking the skin and to prevent any bleeding.
Another common blackhead extractor is called the Comedone extractor. This is a small tool made from stainless steel. It has a small hole in the centre of it and it is used to apply pressure to the blackhead. It also has a scoop on the end of it that is used for removing any clogged pores in the surrounding area.
For slightly larger blackheads, a Lancet Comedone extractor can be used. This has a lancet on one end which is used to put a hole in the blackhead, and then the other end of the tool is used to remove all the contents of the spot.
A blackhead extractor can make the risk of acne spreading reduce considerably. If you squeeze your spots, it just causes the bacteria to spread to other areas and can leave acne scars on your face. So be very careful with the treatment you choose.
